We are a small resort with the cozy touches of a B&B. Our people guests enjoy the soothing mineral hot springs that fill our pool and spa. Our natural mineral waters is the reason Desert Hot Springs attracts spa enthusiasts from around the world. Our location is just a 15 minute drive to Palm Springs - lots of great restaurants and entertainment!

Our canine guests are allowed off-leash and have the run of the place! We are more than another "dog friendly hotel." We welcome all friendly dogs - there are NO add-on pet fees and NO size limits! Up to three dogs are allowed per room depending on size.

Established in 2010.

My passion for the natural hot mineral springs (native to the area) and love of dogs led to a business opportunity - a vacation destination for dog lovers:

In the year 2009, I purchased an abandoned hotel in Desert Hot Springs formally operated as The Beat Hotel. Built in1957, the hotel begged for a total makeover. Over budget and two years later, I entered the hotel business.

In 2011, I traded my 25 year veterinary career for a chance to operate a small hotel and enjoy a more carefree, relaxed lifestyle. Now I spend my mornings watching the beautiful sunrise out my kitchen window and evenings on the patio gazing at the mountains. After the sun sets the night sky is lite by stars and moonlight.

Meet the Business Owner

I began my veterinary career in the late 1970's while curled upon a sofa one summer reading the adventures of James Herriot-a small town veterinarian who wrote about his courageous endeavors in his best-selling books: All Creatures Great and Small and All Things Wise and Wonderful. Herriot has remained my secret mentor ever since. I graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis, California in 1986.

In 2007, my growing interest to educate dog owners evolved into writing articles and e-books which are posted on my blog, Dog-Breath. After more than 25 years in private practice, I retired in 2012. Now a full time innkeeper, writer and stay at home dog mom.
