Our family enjoyed the "Joyful" king suite #9, even though the walk across the highway bridge was rather long. We loved hearing the birds in the evening during our walk back to our room. The suite was modern, clean, roomy and nicely decorated. The privacy of the patio jacuzzi was a bonus! You could enjoy soaking without a bathing suit because of the privacy in the patio. The jacuzzi jets were not strong or bubbly but we enjoyed the mineral springs water, regardless. It was nice to soak in water that did not smell like chlorine. The suite felt like a condo, minus the kitchen. There was a small dorm-size refrigerator in the closet. We didn't keep an eye on the refrigerator temperature and had frozen fruit after a day. The 4-poster bed was spectacular and rather high. There was a nice sitting area in the bedroom next to the window where you could read and relax. The bathroom had a huge shower that had 2 shower heads.
Be sure to take the time to enjoy the local activities: Avila Valley Farm (down the road near the freeway), Avila Beach (bring your bikes to bike on the Bob Jones trail and be prepared for the cold ocean water), San Luis Obispo farmers market on Thursday nights (what a novelty to go at night from 6-9 pm!), the warm hotel pool and the exercise classes provided at the hotel. I enjoyed my first pilates class at the hotel's "yoga dome."
We will be coming back again after enjoying such a relaxing and enjoyable 3-night vacation retreat!Room Tip: Lower numbered suites are closer to the bridge.
